JAPANESE PIED WAGTAIL

JAPANESE PIED WAGTAIL (Motacilla alba)

The Japanese pied wagtail is an insectivorous bird of open country, but is also found in cities near water edges. It is a year round resident in Japan, and measures 6 inches long. The word ‘pied’ means having patches of two colors, here black and white for this bird. And the word ‘wagtail’ implies that these birds wag their long tail frequently.
