EASTERN TURTLE DOVE (Streptopelia orientalis)
The Eastern turtle dove is also called ‘Oriental’ or ‘Japanese’ dove. It is widespread in Eurasia, and is very similar to the European turtle dove, with a patch of black and white stripes on each side of its neck. The sexes are similar. Like other doves and pigeons, this bird forages on the ground. Eastern turtle doves are well adapted to cities just like pigeons. The birds below were observed in a wooded area.
